The Mummy

‘The Mummy‘ (’Die Mumie") (1932) dir. by Karl Freund
Time: 73 min.
In 1921, a group of British archaeologists led by Sir Joseph Whemple discover Imhotep's 3,700-year-old mummy. When one of the young archaeologists opens the Thoth scrolls and reads their contents aloud, the mummy comes to life. 10 years later, Sir Joseph returns to the site with his son Frank. Little do they know that the mummy is hiding as the mysterious Egyptian Ardath Bay, who is helping the archaeologists discover the tomb of his former beloved. He then uses his powers to make her spirit enter the body of Helen Grosvenor. When Sir Joseph dies, Frank and Dr Muller attempt to discover the source of Ardath's power and liberate Helen.
